Why is AT&T charging an In-State Connection Fee?

Your local telephone company charges AT&T for carrying your in-state long distance and local toll calls over its lines. The local telephone companies' charges to carry these calls in Nebraska are higher than those charged for state-to-state calls. As a result, AT&T includes in your monthly bill a $1.63 In-State Connection Fee.

Do other telecommunications companies charge an In-State Connection Fee?

At this time we are aware that Sprint, Qwest, and MCI have implemented a similar charge in several states.

Why didn't you notify me of this charge?

AT&T notified affected AT&T Long Distance and local toll customers. This communication advised customers when AT&T would begin charging the In-State Connection Fee.

Is AT&T charging customers in other states the In-State Connection Fee?

AT&T is currently charging the In-State Connection Fee in other states.

Are there any exemptions from this charge?

The fee does not apply to customers of AT&T Local Service, where applicable.
